No option on drop down for Ty Mawr. Fished the "new" R1 beat. Looks great but total blank. River low on bright day only a couple of likely looking places on entire beat. May try again later in year + more water please. Richard the farmer bemoans the rate of fall on the river these days and feels today was typical of current state of Upper Wye - all the usual, climate change, low rainfall, acidification, land drainage you name it. There is always golf!

Chub (3) 1@4lbs, 1 @ 3 lbs 1 @ 2lbs all estimated - must buy a set of scales!!! Bread flake worked today. Should have caught at least 6 more - definately now very slow! But was my first time fishing the Wye (poor excuse). Excellent venue, excellent online booking service. Thanks WUF, will definitely be back for more.

Area:Lwyd

Beat:The Afon Llwyd

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:2

Fished the new Lwyd beat near the Abbey. Bright and sunny, not too cold, light wind. Good hatch of large dark olives late morning and some rising fish. 3 fish landed and 4 more hooked but came off. Largest landed fish was 16 inches, but all were a good size. Very lovely river, just ignore the debris swept down from towns upstream! Will be a knotweeed jungle in the summer but wading is easy so stay in the channel.

A good day out on the river. Two kelts caught, both well mended, plus a very sharp pull. The kelts came one each from the Electric Wires and Maddox while the pull was in the Vanstone pool.
I fished a 1.5 inch brass tube black and yellow on an intermediate line and a fast sink 5ft poly leader.
Very good car access to the river and the bottom half of the beat is easily fished. The top few pools are a little hard to access with overgrown banks and at the water height today (approx 11'') a tad awkward to get into the water. But, an excellent day out, some superb fly water and lots of very active water foul preparing for nesting. Perhaps spring really is on the way?

I arrived to find a stiff frost. Fished various swims, even the chub didn't oblige forcing a blank. Still enjoyed the day though.

10 x trout 9-13 inches. An early spring day during which the temperature gradually rose from freezing to about 10 degrees. Nothing doing until a light hatch of large olives between 12 and 2. Fish taken on dries (Bastard Adams) and spiders.

Total blank. No sign of fish. Bright windy day about 6C.River 0.18 at Pant Mawr. Disappointing in view of past early success here.
