After a recent cold snap and a rise in levels the river was pushing through quite hard and the barbel and chub too shy to show. Lighter end tackle on ledger with casters produced two nice grayling and a brownie late on.

A very good result despite being so cold that rod rings were iced up preventing free running line thus hindering trotting. In total we caught 27 grayling between 2 rods from several spots. There were a few fish around 2 lbs and one going to 2.5 lbs. If we were able to present bait trotting properly who knows what the final total would have been? A great days fishing.

A dozen chub to around 4lbs on legered flake. Cracking beat, can't wait for the summer.

An absolutely beautiful, clear frosty morning. Water levels perfect as well but not a fish in the net today. Arrived about 10 or so and was probably fishing around 10:30 - 3:30. Plumbed the likely holes with nymphs and had a few knocks but no fish to the net today. Good luck and enjoy. Think I shall next get to the upper Wye and perhaps find some fish in a bit better numbers.

I fished this beat both on Friday 13th and Sun 15th after getting washed off numerous times last year. As the conditions were perfect I thought I would take advantage.
On the Friday I had between 15-20 Grayling. Fish size was from about 1/2 pound up to one clunker which was over two pound.
Most fish were caught down deep on a Pink Shrimp pattern.
The Sunday was pretty much a repeat of the Friday but with only about 10 fish caught with the biggest about a 1 1/4. I did catch a lovely out of season brownie which was about two pound in a run I had never fish before. I'll be back in summer to find out if it's still there!
Had a interesting finish to the day as a fellow fisherman on the beat had lost his car keys. After trying to find them in the dark and searching nearby fields they were finally found in his fishing jacket by his guide. A good ending on a lovely day spent by the river.

Nil return, no fish seen. River clean at 7 foot on the gauge and rising.

As per the previous day, caught a few chub on pellet, barbel were not in evidence. River still pushing through strongly and fishing very tough. Will try again when river has calmed down a bit.

Caught a few chub on pellet, barbel not showing but conditions were difficult since this river had burst its banks the previous week, and although down was still high and pushing through a bit too hard. This stretch I think favours lower water conditions.

2 grayling, one around 2lbs the other around 1lb - lost a few smaller fish under the rod tip. Half a dozen out of season brown trout with one an absolute whopper that would have pushed the 3lb mark in season for sure. Nothing rising all day, although very mild. A privilege to now trot this stream with maggots - there should be some very special fish caught on the right day. River was up around 40cm and had a tinge of colour - we would have prefered if about 10cm lower as it was just a bit 'boily' in places. All fish fell to red maggot as the 'target' grub amongst loosely fed whites.

One small WBT and a couple of very violent pulls was the sum total for the day. The river was still running very coloured and too fast to present a fly properly. I had a great time on a beat which looks full of potential given better conditions. Will try it again before deciding whether it lives up to the cost of fishing it. Action for the day was on a pink shrimp as I think it was probably the only fly that was visible in the murk!
