Blank. River was in flood. Was good to meet Don though, very helpful, hopefully be back in June.

A blank day. Far too much coloured water for satisfactory fishing. A pleasant day none the less.

Arrived in the drizzle to find the Irfon pretty high and coloured. Debated whether or not to have a cast and as ever hope got the better of experience.

Both rods fished heavy and brightly coloured bugs and were rewarded with 2 grayling 6" and 9" and one out of season trout at 9". Certainly more than we expected.

Saw a half eaten hen salmon on the bank (otter?) and heard a report of another salmon supper on the beat. For a river that has had its problems it's encouraging to see salmon reaching the Irfon to spawn.

A quick three hour session on a grim, grey, miserable day yielded only a single out of season brownie to a flashback PTN. Tried the pool with goldheads but no success (although it does look extremely fishy). Only tried a couple of casts above the weir because by that point I was drenched and cold and had fallen over a couple of times (felt soles and studs are superb on slippery stones but next to useless on muddy, wet, steep banks!). I'll be back.

7 chub up to 4lb 14oz on cheese paste, meat and maggots. River rose about 2' in the afternoon which seemed to slow action. Thanks to the WUF for a fantastic years fishing.

A puzzling trip. I found a falling river, with nice colour, mild air and good cloud above. Surely the chub would be biting but no, not a nibble despite trying everything I could think of. The flood debris in the field was a reminder of how wild the river can be. I didn't fall in but the bull on the far bank did, toppling from a crumbling cliff of silt and sand. He survived the dip and was comforted by his ladies.

We couldn't get in the river due to being too high so no fish caught.

Impossible to fish. Howling gale, driving rain and flooded river! The river was too high to access any of the upstream section above the top weir and very fast and murky below the top weir with no wading access due to flood water. Note that the gauge was showing 1ft 10in.

Despite the main rivers being well up and coloured the Dore at Chanstone Court was running clear, at a good level and from the bridge close to the parking spot looked very 'fishy'! It therefore gave us the opportunity of successfully "using up" our accumulated 'excess' Vouchers before the year end.
However the grayling of the Dore were not very obliging today - one rod caught an 8" and a 10" grayling on Pink Shrimp patterns while the other failed to score.
If you enjoy small stream fishing all-year-round this is a beat well worth considering. Very noticeable recent clearance work (vmts to WUF) has made this a delightful proposition but beware the deep pools especially upstream from the bridge!

Two good takes all day but no sight of a silver scale. Both fish were tempted with a heavily weighted Hares Ear nymph fished across and down the margins. River running clear but fast and high, difficult to know where to start. Very windy and chilly wading.
