Nil return, a little fly life but no evidence of trout. Perfect weather for fishing in the afternoon. Maybe the water temperature too low?

Had a lovely day but unfortunately no fish caught. River very low and clear. Lots of fish rising in streamy water just below island when I arived at 10am. Streamy water made it difficult to see what they were feeding on so tried March Browns, Olives, Klinkmamers and Grannom patterns with no luck. In desperation stuck on a big Grey Wulff on a size 10 and had 3 splashy takes but missed every one! Fish stopped rising so I moved on. Shoal of about 15 fish in 2 to 3 pound bracket milling around in shallows by Penlamole pool. Stuck fly right on their heads but they were more interested in sun bathing than feeding. Explored rest of beat with no success or fish seen.

No Fish. Beautiful location. Hottest day of the the year so far. Bright sunshine. Plenty of nymphs around under stones, and a reasonable amount of fly life. A sparse hatch of up-winged flies. Didn't see a trout rise all day or disturb a fish all day whilst wading. Fished both dry fly (BWO) and some indicator nymphs (PTN) in the deep pools which were quite milky from silt. The banks are being heavily eroded by sheep and cattle drinking on long stretches of the river especially above the bridge.

Lovely day's fishing. Very pretty beat, with a mix of easy and challenging fishing. The trout though were not in abundance. Water still cool, no rises seen, pretty hard going.
