River was spot on but the weather had been so changeable and freezing at night. Fished the whole stretch top to bottom on maggot feeder and float and didn't sniff a bite all day. Finally moved to Holme Lacey and blanked there too, that's fishing!!

Blank, except for a 29 inch kelt and a number of trout which wanted to grab a Black and Yellow tube. The water was on 1 foot 3 inches at Fownhope, some greyish colour to the water. And, oh boy, the weather was really something! The wind was a gift from Mother Russia, up to a gale force for much of the time, and mostly blowing straight downstream. So with a heavy tube, it was double Speys or "chuck and duck" if you wanted to chance it. Rod rings iced up continuously through the day, except for one hour after lunch. Wading jacket froze stiff as did wading trousers when out of the water and standing in the wind. Mini-blizzards of snow every half hour or so. I always thought Herefordshire a place with a moderate spring climate?

A Siberian like day at Caradoc. Wind chill down to -11 making spinning for long periods impossible. The beauty of Caradoc being drivable was regular fresh brews in the shelter of the vehicle.
Still a stunning day and managed 3 trout and 2 well mended kelts. So many kelts in the river this year. No sign of fresh fish. River gone quiet for now.

A fairly short fishing sesssion today was more of an endurance test than a pleasure, in what must be coldest conditions we have ever fished in. One 3lb chub caught on pellet was a bonus in these conditions and more than I expected.

Unfortunately no fish caught on a bitterly cold day coupled with intermitant snow showers. Looks like a place to return to in the warmer months!

Weather was freezing and water a bit high (1' 4'' at Fownhope). Persevered with a fly but no response.
