For some reason we struggled today. Fished mainly in the first field section. As others have said before this is a very snaggy area and more time was spent tieing new rigs than fishing! One rod blanked and I only managed 1 barbel and 1 chub on the usual hair rigged pellet and feeder combo. We stayed at the Greenman at Fownhope which isn't the cheapest but I couldn't fault it. Fantastic food and beer!

Slightly limited swim choice with 4ft of water on but decided to fish the last two swims before the island. Pellet and boilie produced 10 barbel to around 7lb 8oz and 10 chub to around 5lb. Fish seemed slightly cagey with some tentative bites and the swims dried up somewhat after lunch. Lovely beat though and will return hopefully when there is less water!! Ended a fantastic first trip to the Wye with 45 barbel and 10 chub in 3 days fishing. Many thanks again Wye and Usk!

Arrived to find river pushing through hard approx 4ft up and coloured with no slack water. I fished the only fishable swim on left bank, caught 2 barbel approx 8 lbs. Friend Mike fished accessible swim on right bank, caught 2 chub approx 4 lbs and lost 1 larger at the net. Beat access good, steps in bank make access to swims (when river at normal level) good. Another enjoyable day.

After losing a fish back in May I've not made it back to the bank with the river in good order, most of the good sport falling midweek which I could not make the most of. So it was great to be back on the rectory in good conditions (Many thanks again). It was snowing last time I fished here! I started early as i knew there was rain on the way which could spoil things for me. At about 1030 I made the most of this opportunity and had a 15lb fresh hen from the top of Rock Pool my first landed on the fly. Fished on untill the river started to come back up again and went home very wet and very happy. Thanks to WUF for making this possible.
