Had a wonderful day, Mr T hurley landed a 5lb sea trout, from dog hole, which made his day! Would definatley come back to Goodrich Court, banks could do with cutting in places to access good fishable water, all in all good fishery thanks Wye and Usk Foundation.

3 rods caught 31 trout in the 8-10 oz range with a couple over a pound. Most fish taken on tungsten nymphs with quite a few caught on dry olives. Weather was wet in morning but cloudy and showers in afternoon. Rock and roll baby!

It was a chilly morning so I opted to fish from midday to 4pm when things waremd up with temperatures reaching the dizzy heights of 10 degrees! The water was surprisngly lowish and clearish despite the recent heavy rains. I took two nice browns of about pound each to a small weighted GRHE.

Rain all morning then brightened up, but still chill light wind. Lovely early evening sun was welcome. Rising fish very picky with several clear takes missed but took a very strong 15" brown trout at the down stream end of the beat in the slower water, late on at 5pm on an Adams 14. Good new beat with plenty of variety. Thank you.

First time fishing at Goodrich Court. Fished The Maddox with the fly with the water was quite coloured. Used a fast sinking line and 2" orange and yellow poly tube which dragged the bottom a bit. Just at the end of the Maddox pool at 9.30 I caught a hen fish of about 12lb, about 6ft from the bank in the slack water. Nice and silver but no lice on her. Will be back soon for what is some lovely fly water.

This is the second occasion that I have fished this beat, although I have not latched onto a fish yet, I am confident that it will be in the not too distant future. Although not long by some beats standards, it is a lovely beat to fish, it has excellent flow and a very comfotable wading depth for the most part, especially above the bridge. From the top of the beat a salmon could be picked up virtually any where down river to the bridge. In this height of water (app 200mm up at this moment in time) below the bridge it gets very deep after 60 mtrs, but there are a couple of areas where it is fishable with fly or baits It has obvious good holding lies (stones and chine pools) once the river drops to summer level. The amount of trout that I saw rising was amazing considering how cold it has been. Tight lines.

At 8pm caught a fresh 12lb hen salmon at top end of Boat Pool. Saw several fish humping on the surface which I presume were running fish. At 8.30 as dusk was falling caught a 3-4lb Sea Trout below Boat Pool, top end of Willow Run. Both fish on small black and silver Flying C. Water dropped back to 4 inches on Lydbrook gauge but still with colour.
