Parked up at outside the Severn Trent complex at around 7:00 am. The river was high with a lot of debris, we knew this might be the case given the weather.
I opted to fish really close in on what they call the "New Swim". I used Elips pellets with an open feeder. In total I had 6 Barbel between 9lb and 12lb plus a 3lb Chub, most of the fish were caught before 15:00, so we left at around 19:00.
The other two rods caught 3 Barbel between 9lb and 11lb plus to around 5 Eels.
All in all a great days fishing, really enjoyed it and will return when the river is a little lower and slower running.
During the day we saw a number of very large Pike, 20lb plus laying up in the shallows, another thing to bear in mind for next time.
Hopefully I will be back very soon, thanks for all your help, very efficient.
Finally, very big thanks to Don, he helped a lot, took time to give me updates on the river levels before the day, nothing was too much trouble for him.

River at 1ft and with a tinge of colour with fish showing at regular intervals throughout the day. Showers in morning, but heavy rain in late afternoon until 8pm. 15lb salmon caught in Station Stream (beat 3) on second cast with small cascade on floating line. One other pull in Cottage Stream in evening.
Very enjoyable day and thank you to the Foundation for a very efficient booking system.

Arrived at the river at 8.30, River was looking good due to rain the night before, no fish showing until around 11.30 then the barbel fed through the day. I had two, one at 7lb and a nice one at 9lb 12oz, and 1 chub, losing 3 barbel (snapped late on a big fish). My uncle Brian had 1 barbel at 9lb 6oz, stunning fish, and a chub.

Lovely stretch of water. We will do better next time after locating the fish. Thanks to all at the Wye & Usk Foundation.

Water temp ~60F, water height 1'0".

Also lost a Salmon on 4th cast of morning in Cottage flats - careless!.

Despite heavy rain on Friday and heavy showers on Saturday, the river was at an excellent height and only slightly coloured with road run off. Many fish, some large, showing thoughout Beats 2 and 3.

Fished it all day from 0630 to 2000hrs, saw no end of salmon coming through as before, but at 0750hrs I caught a 20lb (approx) fresh hen salmon on a a sink tip with a a tiny silver stoat with a blue hackle.

It went on rocket runs and was undoubtedly my most exhilarating fishing experience to date.

At about 1100hrs I caught a 7lb hen on the same fly. Both were splendid fresh silver fish.

So; Wye 1 Me 2 at the end of the second day AND I had the beat booked for a further day...

A perfect day for fishing, some sun, cloud and rain. River level could have been a little higher at .6m. Fished the top pools on the caravan side with the fly. Salmon spotted as usual at submerged tree. Took spinning rod to fish below bridge where I managed to spook two huge salmon; one above the cables and one below. Still trying to get into my skin two days later. Was like yard long logs dropped from 20 paces, wow! Stealth - the salmon lie along this bank. Shad also present. Returned one trout to the spinner. Great day with great company, one to remember.

First time on this beat, enjoyed the day immensely. Fished for both salmon and trout but without success.

Wading can be a little tricky to the un-initiated, underfoot conditions predominated by biggish rocks and boulders. Wading the lower pools not possible or extremely difficult, steep sided banks and muddy bottom - to be avoided

Water height was at a decent level (as informed by the owner) running fairly briskly in shallower areas.

Beat:R20 Garren Brook

Fishing:Trout (River)

10 x trout 6-12 inches, Klinkhammer. This little brook certainly seems to have been refreshed by the recent showers, running clear now and most of the slime gone from the bottom.
