6 nice trout caught (biggest 10inches). The river was exceptionally low - almost unrecognisable in fact, but even so there was a reasonable rise at around 11.30. Some large mayfly around (e.danica) and all in all a nice day. Again we need rain if things are to improve.

Blustery, odd light rain. Fish slow to rise in morning, but woke up later in the day.Took eleven w.b.t. between us, with 2 at 1.lb, 3 at 3/4.lb, and the rest small. Shook off many more, and no shortage of rising fish playing hard to get!

1 small 6" brown trout, greenwells glory, 6ft trout rod. River low. Banks not accessible in many places, needs a lot of trimming back of vegetation to make approach safe.

The fishing was good but wading was very difficult. I did not find 'Wading is relatively easy over a mostly gravel bed'. to be the case. Getting in where I did was easy parking and easy access but that lasted about twenty yards before the high banks closed in and the river bed was littered with rubble. The fish were free rising and in good condition.
Because of the disparity between the Foundation description and reality I emailed the secretary of the Cwmbran AA and his reply may be helpful.

The fishery is from Chapel Lane Bridge (car park by bridge) to Burtons Foods (road bridge) both banks ( where accessible).Car parks @ Boating Lake,Llanyavon Way ( both sides),Edlogan Way, & Chapel Lane. Some areas are difficult owing to developements beyond our control. The river bed is pebbley (rocky) not shingle as described, again a discription beyong our control. The Lwyd is a typical Welsh river & the terrain/conditions are as expected of such a waterway. We stock every season to give our members & guests as good a fishery as location/conditions permit. Tight Lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WUF Note: We will correct the description on the website. Refunds will be offered when incorrect descriptions lead to dissatisfaction.

An absolutely lovely day fishing. The river was low and there was a few rain showers throughout the day. My friend caught a fish on his third cast and it carried on in fits and starts throughout the day. In total we caught around 40 fish between us up to 3/4lb on small gold headed nymphs fished across and down, dry flies fish upstream and spiders fished in an escalator fashion. Absolutely lovely day, even caught some fish in the slow water towards the end of the beat. Shall definitely be back!
