Had a great day at Holme Lacy 3, river condition was slightly coloured, 11 barbel caught between 8-5lb. All taken with pellet. A lovely part of the Wye to fish with easy access to some good swims (no steep banks). Some sound advice from Colin over the phone. Worth another visit for sure.

4 barbel from 6lb to 8 lb landed on pellet. A few chub out as well in the 2-4 lb size. River conditions close to perfect with plenty of colour in the water, a fair old push coming through, mild, low pressure. Should have done better but getting bait presentation right is always trial and error, mine being more of the latter....

Arrived at 8.30am to find the river running fairly high and still with some colour. Despite the river dropping during the day and losing colour it was always going to be difficult fishing. 2 very small brownies and no sign of grayling.

Started fishing at 9.15am - 1 barbel on my third cast. JT lost 3 fish in 5 casts so decided to bait the swim and give it a rest. We thought we were in for a good day but not to be. After that it was a real struggle. We fished plenty of other swims and I managed to catch 2 chub. I probably could have caught more but I was fishing too heavy and losing a lot of meat to small tugs. LAZY I think. Spoke to a lady walking her dog and she said that there was a pheasant shoot on Saturday. 800 bangs, did that make a difference?

Deadbaiting for pike. One chub and a couple of dropped runs which I suspect were chub also as baits not marked.
Feel that £20/day is too much and won't fish this beat again at that price.
Flock of 31 goosanders on the water when I arrived.

A nice mild day, with the river carrying a few inches of extra water. Fished by the hut for eleven barbel and three chub, almost all to pellet.
A great days fishing, on a lovely fishery. Thanks to Colin Richardson for his advice.

River was high from overnight rain. Very coloured. Levels dropped a bit in the late afternoon but conditions were still far from ideal.

SM - 1 x out of season WBT approx 9"
PH - 1 x juvenile grayling

We had high hopes for this beat but the torrent of water from the rain caught us out on this occasion.

After a lot of guage watching, the river dropped and we were able to get out. The ladies did not disappoint 35+ between us on bugs, dries, klink and dink, 4 out of season brown trout too - lovely fishing.
