Fished three spots attempting to locate barbel. Standard feeder and ledger methods. Very snaggy - better suited to float fishing but the river was high, coloured, and flowing fast. Picked up one small barbel in the swim at the downstream limit (just before the limit - the most downstream swim was under water). Caught a chub from the same swim.

1 Barbel, 1 Chub

Pegs at the bottom of the stretch were unreachable so fished on the sandy bank on the bend further upstream where the flow was slower. Caught all day on the stick - mainly Chub and Dace but also 1 Barbel and a few Trout up to 3lb.

River up 3/4 foot and fallen. Most bites came afternoon. Lovely stretch plenty of pegs to go at

Tough conditions with the river up and the water temps dropping due to the reservoir dumping a load of cold water (18c to 13c overnight!)
Fished the meadow section that has easy access from the layby. Lost a few fish as well as the 2 Chub that came to the net. The 'other' was an eel.
Lovely stretch of water and we'll be back next year.
