A few fish coming to te the surface but nothing to my efforts of dry and nymph. Spent my time in the lower two fields so lots more to see for next time. River bed is very uneven and rocky making wading deceptively tricky.

Nice day on the Clewedog with the river still running at a decent height. Fished from about 11.30 to 3 with the Tenkara rod.
Started with a small nymph as it was on from last trip. Switched to a Gnarly Tenkara fly when the nymph was taken by a tree and ended up fishing it dry which worked well later on. Plenty of Otter prints and saw several Kingfishers.

Pleasant enough day but a downstream breeze made casting challenging throughout the day. Sporadic hatches and rises, brief in nature. Caught one small fish early in the day followed soon after by a better fish of around a 1lb. Both on a Jingler. Had a break in the afternoon and returned for the evening rise, which didn’t materialise, although I did rise and miss a couple of fish.

Trout caught on a dry fly size 16. I used light-beige colored flies. River was slightly tinged with runoff. Plenty of trout starting to rise once the bug hatches begin around 7-8pm. Beautiful location with easy access and camping nearby. Bummed the pub was under renovation but hopefully I’ll be back in the future to experience it at a later time! Big thanks to the property owner for making this type of experience possible for a guy like me coming from America to the UK for the first time. Absolutely loved it!

A beautiful spot to fish. Mainly sunny weather with the river at normal summer level. One of the chub had a significant kink in its body and we caught this fish in the morning and again in the afternoon. All chub were between 2 and 4 lbs and sadly, all had goosander scars on their flanks. We counted 9 goosanders skulking along the far bank. Halibut pellet was the successful bait and all fish were returned unharmed.
