Always thought todays fishing would be hard after the rain the night before but as this is 1 of my favourite beats I decided to give it a go.

On arriving I decided to fish the top of the beat as I’ve not spent much time there in the past. It was tough going first thing as the water was a chocolate browns but I persevered on. After a few hours the river clear a little and as I fished my way back down the beat I connected with the first fish. Not a monster by any means but a nice tug on the line. I then continued down and managed 2 reasonable trout from the slower water below the White House.
A great day that shows little prospect after the heavy rain yesterday evening.

Lovely beat
Some fish rising around 11am but sadly below where I was fishing. Another jumped out in front of me while having my lunch!!
Not a huge amount of insect life. Finished the day fishing quite a way below the house where there were some rising but again not very many. One launched itself out of the water after a parachute adams but didn’t actually take the fly
Alas nothing for me today but would highly recommend fishing here
