3 of us switched from feeder tactics to stick float, only one barbel caught on the feeder to barrel pellet, perch , dace and chub caught on sweetcorn on the stick float, unfortunately no chub over a pound, the early pegs look the part but didn’t fish as well as expected, back tomorrow

We fished beats 4 and 5 on the left hand bank. The river looked in good condition and rose slightly during the day. Both rods fished pellet feeder. Fishing was slow through the day with just two bites for two fish coming from mid stream on the first bend on beat five. Barbel was around eight pounds and chub about four. Both came to luncheon meat.

All caught on straight lead and halibut pellet, unfortunately no sign of the barbel. Proudest achievement was getting back up the track to the road! I have a standard estate car, slightly lower ground clearance than most. It is possible to go up and down the track if you plot your lines carefully. I wouldn't dream of doing it in the winter months if I wasn't in a 4 x 4

Load of chub 2 to 4 pounds, a few smaller barbel but my son landed his first ever 10+ so a great day. I trotted a float down from the beach at the lower end of the beat and my son was on ledger. The forecast bad weather kept the kayaks and swimmers at bay, so largely peaceful too. Most fish caught on luncheon meat.
