The association has fishing rights on 16 miles of both banks of the river Rheidol from Devils Bridge to the sea. The river enjoys an international reputation as one of Wales's premier salmon and sea trout fisheries with double figure specimens of both species being caught on a regular basis.

There are around forty recognised pools from the aptly named "Quarrry pool" to the delightfully named "Troedrhiwlas pool" (the foot of the blue hill). The flow of the river is largely governed by a hydroelectric scheme which can cause the river level to rise very quickly and unexpectedly. Whilst this can be problematic if night fishing, it does also mean that the river can go into spate even on a dry summers day!

Wading rivers always carries a risk, but extra special care is needed in the Rheidol, as generating water can cause the river level to rise quite considerably in just a few minutes.

Fly, spin and prawn fishing are allowed within the specified dates.

This is part of Aberystwyth Angling Association waters, so a day ticket here is valid for all other Aberystwyth AA waters on that date.

A concessionary ticket is available for persons of state pension age and disabled anglers. Proof of eligibility must be carried with you to present to a Club representative if asked.

TEN FROM TEN CHALLENGE
Aberystwyth Angling Association have come up with the ultimate fishing challenge - The 'Ten from Ten' challenge. You need a day ticket for each day you plan to fish which you can purchase via this page - the days don’t have to be consecutive. Maps provided on booking.

Are you up for it?

The Fishing in Wales team certainly were and you can see them achieving it in their video:

So what is the 'Ten from Ten' challenge?
In a maximum of three days you need to have caught one fish from each of the ten lakes that Aberystwyth Angling Association have.

How do I achieve it?
You will need to provide photographic evidence of each fish caught and the date with the background of your image clearly showing the lake you caught it from. Then send these images to 10from10@aber-angling.co.uk.

Once confirmed you will be added to the 'Roll of Honour'

Anything else I should know?
