This scenic upper Wye fishery is an amalgamation of two beats that were previously let separately. The fishery now offers 1.5 miles of mixed single and double bank, some 9 miles downstream of Builth Wells. It includes some famous upper Wye salmon pools such as Dol-meudwy, Orchard and Llangoed Pool and several other noted catches, all of which offer a good mixture of fly and spinning water. The upper sections offering some classic fly water with the lowers part of the fishery is best fished for salmon with spinner. In higher water conditions, however, they can also be fished with fly.

The trout and grayling fishing on this part of the Wye is excellent and, unlike most other upper river beats, certain parts are fishable from the bank. Most of the beat provides good dry fly, nymph and spider fishing with the rapids at the lower end also offer the trout angler some good pocket water to try, which is especially productive in the summer months.

For coarse anglers, pike are present and some sizable chub and dace. Trotting for grayling is allowed between 18th October and 14th March.

There are three parking spots, all very close to the river.

Wading is relatively tricky on this part of the river and the usual stud or stud/felt combination for wader soles is essential.

The occasional Sunday is available for Day Tickets. Two angling clubs have access to the beat on Sundays, for coarse fishing only. However, there is no coarse fishing allowed in any of the Salmon Pools.
