Started drizzly and a breeze, with sunny intervals later. Water temp 18 degrees, a foot up and a tinge of colour. Started at the bottom end where 2 of the 3 of us caught but with one of the normally reliable swims producing nothing. He moved up the top and caught 3 barbel and 3 chub in the afternoon. The other 2 of us had 5 and 6 barbel each with PJ adding 8 chub to his 5 barbel. Bomb and pellet or GB feeders with pellet or meat produced the fish, chub to 4lb and barbel to 9.03, a pb for PJ! Strangely very little between 1700 and 1900, and two other swims fished (3 in total) didn't produce a bite so be prepared to move. With all three of us catching multiple barbel it was a very successful day. Thank you WUF and the landowner.

Must have offended those pagan angling gods. Seven eels. Nothing but slippery eels for first five hours and three changes of swim. Finally moved downstream of the wooded area (where the pegs are way above water height at yesterday’s level -1 metre at Monmouth - and where overhanging trees make smooth casting next to impossible).
The last two hours in the meadow section led to more accurate casting and brought numerous chub and barbel bites with some decent fish landed.
It would certainly improve things if the next bank-side work team were able to take out some of the worst of the overhanging branches.
4 Barbel, 3 Chub, 7 Other
