River in lovely condition and a slight increase in temperature gave us confidence of a few bites.

I was Pike fishing and had one low double in the morning and pulled out of another slightly bigger in the afternoon.
My Dad had a great day. Bites were still difficult to come by overall but the rewards were there for persistence on a mixture of maggot feeder and bread. Two Chub 5lb and 5lb 1oz.

Always a great day on this beat, bites or not. Really well maintained and just a pleasant spot to be on a chilly winters day.

The floods left a large deposit of logs by the gate so you’ll need to go onto the bridge then climb over into the field at the moment . Saw the bailiff and he mentioned they’ll be down to clear it at some point. Pictures attached.

Nice height (40cm) and milder that recent days. A lovely, diverse and very long beat. Missed a few chances, including a frustating loss when the dropper caught on a lump of wood whilst playing a big grayling. I saw the fish shake out the barbless hook before I had to break off which was a relief. Only one fish brought to hand, a lovely fish that was around the 2lb mark by Guy. All the activity was from 12-2 as a hatch of chironomids developed (a fish even rose!) Either side of that you wouldn't believe there was a fish in the river.

All the action was in the steadier 3-5ft deep bits with klink and dink; czech nymphing the holes and faster water produced nothing.

We fished at Middle Hill Court today, and it was just too cold we didn't have a touch between us. We will be back soon as the fishery has been much improved by the addition of extra swims. We fished with meat and various pellets all to no avail, ah well it was a lovely ( cold ) day.

An icy start with the Erwood gauge at 1.2m. Trotting today but ice in the rod rings was a problem until 11. Tried numerous spots, some of these were productive at the same level in December before the recent high water, but unable to find the grayling. 2 out of season brownies only.
