Not much happening. Very few fish rising and they were mostly toddlers.. I did see one big trout in an inaccessible spot. The “trout” in the bridge pool turned out to be a chub! When the water is low like it is now, I’d advise minimal wading. I was using a small deer hair caddis but a nymph might have worked better.

Arrived and set up near lower parking area only to be visited by a huge bull who wanted a drink from my swim (no signage that he was present)! After chasing him away to give me room to reload the car and move to top end above pumping station. Fishing slow and had 1 small chub plus 6 eels on meat.

Fished the evening from 6pm to dusk. The chub were all between 2-4lb and the barbel was around 6-7lb. Fished 12mm boillies on a hair using ground bait feeder tactics.
Good conditions as it was cloudy with occasional fright spells and the river was at normal summer levels.

Was slightly concerned about water temperature so we did a test first thing and it was 21.3. Stuck to the faster oxygenated swims and were rewarded with lots of chub and a few barbel between us. All well rested and fighting fit. Nothing big, Barbel up to maybe 7lb and Chub just over 4lb but a lovely day on the bank. Great access and swims as usual. Only 4 anglers fished as we block booked the whole beat between us

A tough day. Without access to a 4x4 I focussed on the downstream section of the beat. There was basically not a single swim accessible, so after breaking through some willows I managed to find a very rocky beach. If the river was up a foot or two there would have been nowhere to fish. I stuck at it for 12 hours, and only managed a single bite which was the usual size Wye Chub.

Humid, still overcast afternoon. Started well with a few rises and takes on butchers in the top water. Went very quiet for 5. Took one on a squirmy at depth. Then nothing worked. Huge midge hatch from 7, we were unprepared and retreated even though the fish were freely rising from 7.30 onwards. It is one of the best places to fish there is when it's like that. Will return with mosi protection.
