Great session to end my summer campaign up here….or is it?! Immediate action which then stopped just as quickly. Then they came back on the feed later. River was slightly up and weather was cooler initially but warmed up going into the evening , perfect conditions tbh. Shame to leave when they’re going like that but rules is rules. Only one set of canoes came through at the start of session

Beat very weedy, like alot of the wye at the moment.
But fishable. Lots of access to river.
As others have said, I was a little concerned about the bull in the field.
Especially returning to to the car when the cattle had moved close to the river bank.
I had to walk way into the field to keep my distance.
For that reason j won't be booking on this beat again.
Shame really.

Well, was just sublime, getting back out on a wild stream, after weeks of fishing the outflows of the Elan and Claerwen. I must say though, both provided fabulous sport, along with the cool upper Wye, in the gorge, just out of Rhayader..... They have all stayed wonderfully cool, and are great locations to fish ... I've had some big grayling and trout on the dries too, just the best of summer sport !!
Today, I was greeted with a low, but refreshed Clywedog Brook. Lots of leaves now starting to appear on the slower pools, and although she was low, sport was fun in fairness ....Dries as always, six dinky beauties to the net .... best Im guessing was eight inches.... But, superb getting back out on one of the beats I know so well.....
I only fished up to the Elan pipes.... Had my last fish in the cracking pool, just before them. A really satisfying angry take too ....Fantastic !!
Ohhhhh, and to top of a fun three hours, not only saw the kingfisher three times, but a fleeting glimpse of the otter. I think last time I saw Tarka here, was in early May ....Happy days, a fun few hours. Back out in the Elan Valley Tommorrow , guiding ....Lovely stuff !!!
