Weather conditions hot. Found some early sport up to 12.00 which produced 2 Barbel, best of the pair 8lb. 8 Chub followed all a good 3-4lb and 6 eels all came to touch line luncheon meat. Pub lunch followed at Inn on the Wye. Back for afternoon and evening session which resulted in nothing more caught. 4 swims tried. Barbel not moving out of the more oxygenated water yet. This is possibly due to later than normal spawning at a guess. River levels seemed normal. Barbel just not moving about yet. Nothing on the usual types of dumbells.

Only fished from 10.30-15.00 due to other commitments. Hot and sunny, tried a few different swims and some interest when fishing to the snags on far bank but no fish in the net. Nice beat and will return for a proper session

Nice day out - beat shared with Ian and we fished early afternoon until dusk. Hatches of large green duns, yellow mays, blue winged olives and the odd mayfly. Intermittent rises throughout the day but fish were willing to come up for small olive cdc patterns which accounted for all my fish. Good evening rise but only right at the death from 9.30pm onwards. Best fish approx. 2lb.

saw several rising fish in the deep slow saters upstream of the foot bridge and roll cast a blue dunn to drift and hooked a good size Allis Shad (Alosa alosa).
unexpected fish that gave a good account running several times even tail walking like a tarpon.
revived slowly and returned alive and well.

They enter major rivers in South Wales around May and June to spawn. While they resemble a large herring or a "mini tarpon," they are predatory and will readily hit a dry fly or trout streamer. [1, 2]

Lovely beat, very hot and bright. Caught mainly on deeper nymphs in fast water.
