Beat:Cammarch Hotel Irfon

Fishing:Winter Grayling

No. of Anglers:1

7 x grayling 6-17 inches, mostly good ones, plus 7 x out of season trout 6-11 inches, Red Tag, Yellow Bumble and Grayling Steel Blue fished deep on a sinking leader butt. I had underestimated the extent of overnight showers and the water was high and coloured, rising slightly, with masses of floating leaves. Quite difficult fishing with nothing to be done with the dry fly. A day of sunshine and showers with the Irfon valley as quiet and beautiful as ever.

River dropping off and a good colour, slightly more pace than I like at this time of year but as this beat is mostly shallow. Caught in all swims we fished on a variety of methods including a Salmon Parr trotting. Nothing weighed just the average size Wye fish. Enjoyable as always

1 Barbel, 10 Chub, 1 Other
