We tubed Rhoysrydd and Glandwgan and did not move a thing until mid afternoon. Loads of sandals around and hatches of sedges starting in the reeds. Windy, showers and sun and it felt that the water
Temp was high and the wind colder.

River very low, clear and with very little flow so knew barbel were probably going to be a non starter so focused on the chub. Ranged in size from 6oz up to just under 4lb. All came to meat either float fished or feeder.

Hail storms, rain and sunshine, but couldn’t shake them off today. Pretty much every like riffle gave up fish. Some off the top on F fly, but mostly on nymphs, red tags etc. Lost a good number as well. Some nice sized fish.
Great day out!

16deg with passing rain showers and distant thunder. Intermittent sunshine. Started at about 1000. No rises seen until about 1300 then very sporadic. A few big mayflies spotted. 3 browns caught on bead head PTN about #16 both from deeper areas and very shallow riffles. Did manage to rise 3 on an Adams but didn’t stick. Also a good take on a PTN that just pricked the fish. Got pretty cold at about 14:30 and fingers wouldn’t work properly so packed it in. Nice day though.
Thanks once again to the Wye and Usk Passport.

The river is very low (0.57 on the Erwood gauge) and there is very little flow in the pools to swing a fly. We didn’t see any salmon, but two small trout saved a blank. The sheltered area at the shepherds hut gave very welcome respite from the frequent heavy showers.
