Very strong downstream wind made life difficult, particularly when using dries.
Olives started coming off around noon but where I was fishing no fish were showing.
As I moved upstream I saw rising fish and caught my first fish, on a nymph but then changed to dries and caught 2 more. By 2pm all rising had stopped and so did I.
A hard day for casting and also for seeing the dries but worth the visit.

I didn't fish, the weather was just too bad. My tip is to look at the weather up there before booking because it is a lot different to Barnard Castele for example.

River low and clear, but a strong cold wind wasn’t helpful. Tried spiders without success before taking a 14inch trout on a dry fly - JG Olive Emerger. There was a really nice hatch around mid day which was very brief but quite spectacular. Still couldn’t persuade a fish to take any of my March Brown dry flies.

Weather dry but very windy which made it feel 5 deg colder than 13. Very difficult casting as wind directly upstream and fishing wet fly. No luck with wet march brown so changed to goldhead haresear nymph size 12 and landed a nice trout of 14 " in woodstream.at about 14.30. No other takes and wind picked up further so left at 16.15.
John fished a series of nymph patterns but had no takes at all. Difficult day overall and worse than forecast
