Fishing:Salmon

Very hot, bright day with the river at approx 0.48m on the Redbrook gauge, some algal tint on the water. Salmon seen throughout the beat after 1830, but none could be induced to take a fly.
Coarse angler guest caught a large eel of about 2lbs and a chub of about 1lb.
Many thanks to local rod Peter for an introduction to the beat and for sharing his knowledge so freely.
Lovely beat, thanks all for making this available, will be back one day.

Area:Upper Wye

Beat:Gromain & Upper Llanstephan

Fishing:Trout (River)

Made use of the faster water along several parts of the beat, which paid dividends on a bright, hot day and the river running low. Gold headed nymph and a copper john caught two decent grayling, best around a pound and a half. Took the afternoon off to relax by the fishing hut and watch the bird life. Great place to spend a day and ponder why I don't do it more often.
At around 1900 I went to the Heirag pool and watched several fish jumping in the boil. Try as I might I couldn't entice any interest from my various offerings. Stayed until the evening rise where a pale yellow evening dun imitation led to much interest from the resident salmon parr and smaller graying down below the bridge.
Probably my favorite beat on the Wye. Hopefully won't be as long until next time.

A patchy day, boat traffic was horrendous, why do they think it’s ok to stop & have a picnic right opposite to where your fishing. I don’t think I’ll fish here during the day again.

Report for J H from Bridgwater.
A tough first day on this beat, not amused at kids throwing stones on the swim opposite.

Very low river, Crystal clear with bright sunshine. No activity during the day, but 1 barbel at 8pm and another at dusk. I had a third very hard take at dusk, but didn't hook it.
