Beat:Bideford Brook
Fishing:Trout (River)

An unusual morning. Heavy rain just before dawn such that, feeling somewhat tired and lazy, I was minded to stay in bed. I decided to fish the Bideford Brook anyway and despite low water after this long drought was pleased to find a lot of fly hatching - olives, pale wateries and some sedges - and fish rising to a dry fly. They were better fish than usual too, including a 12 incher which isn't quite unknown here, but is a good one for this little stream. Before I reached the top It all came to an end with a sudden rush of muddy flood water from the Forest upstream which made me get out promptly. 9 x trout 9-12 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer

Beat:Dolgau
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
Heavy overnight rain but river seemed OK in the morning. New beat for so started off at the bottom below the bridge. Difficult fishing down there, deep pools or pocket water nothing in-between. Went above bridge midday, walked too the top of beat noting a few spots to try on the way back, but in no time the river had risen about a foot and thick brown and full of leaves!! . Needless to say nothing caught up there, but fish caught in morning - grayling to 15" and trout to 14 1/2 "
4 Trout, 2 Grayling
