Hot and sunny. I thought I might try to fish where the Usk river enters the reservoir. A bad move. Lots of hot walking over rough ground and very little access to the water with the reservoir looking quite full at the top end.

Messed about with a float and caught chublets and dace (other) then went on the feeder and had 2 barbel best 6.8 and the chub

Late afternoon/evening fishing 5pm to 7.30pm. River was fairly low, although still fishable with the water feeling quite cold. Nothing much rising, but the fish were willing to take nymphs and streamers. An abundance of 8 to 11 inch fish and a good handful 12 -13 inch. Some larger fish seen and lost. Great beat!

Fished the evening in the woods. Picked up an early chub but nothing then until a nice chub and 7lb barbel as the light was going.

Lots of quality chub and few barbel. All fish came to pellet waggler
