My first ever fly-fishing experience. Hot at 25°C and initially sunny conditions. River flowing in a slow to medium flow. Could see the bottom to a depth of 2 feed but water in deeper channels brown and opaque. Only a few rising fish and nothing caught but a good experience in peaceful countryside.

Started early fished from the bridge pool up to house pool with water looking good only Shad and a couple of greedy small trout so far, up to Hellrig and noticed a new big pot at the end of the pool. Fished the fly through the put a Rappala on fished down to the end and bang fish on and then off. Fished up all the way then to the top of Spring pool, That was me then all fished out

No fish. Very strange day with hardly a rise and very quiet. This is usually a prolific beat too. It is beautiful and wonderfully wild. WATCH out for nesting kingfishers.

Lots of fly/insect life throughout the day but very few fish seen ( inc rises). Both fish taken c.7inch and looked gorgeous, butter yellow underside.

Not much surface activity, a few mayfly, but not enough to get the trout excited

Went down for a couple of hours after 1pm. Plenty of fly life but little trout activity. Targeted only rising WBT I saw to mayflies and caught on a french partridge mayfly. Lovely circa 1.5 lb fish safely returned.

WOW what an evening, I am still shaking. I went up to the rock pool about 6pm, two fellow anglers were there said they had seen nothing all day. I tackled up with a homemade fly, 4th cast down and bang the fish nearly took the rod from my hands, what a fight best one I have ever had, stripped my reel twice ,I had to run down the bank after it. We managed to land it in the end and my fellow angler tried to weigh it with his scales which went to 22lb and it went straight past that so we will say 25lb+ see photo's

Fished all day with Ian. He lost a fish but I didn't have a touch apart from Shad. I went up again in the evening to fish the Bridge pool and house pool, again Shad after Shad but no salmon, strange really as fish below and above being caught nothing on this beat though
