A hard day, surprising as river looked in fine fettle... there's always next time

Fished most of the day last chance under the bridge . I had a take down by the big rocks .

Fished today ,started right at the top boards off the beat, 10 -15 casts and bang into a fish. A good scrap and I managed to land him a 12lb fish not showing his colour yet .Went back strongly

Water good colour and a decent height. River looking wonderful but sadly no fish to report.

Fished lower end using feeder, pellet and meat. Others were dace.

River too high/fast/coloured to fish at all.

A very frustrating day. Conditions looked good on arrival - good colour in the water and good flow. Perhaps a bit cold but looked ok. Started in the top section and fished 4 swims which were accessible for the first 3 hours. Not a bite. Ventured down the beat to one swim that was just about accessible for approximately 1 hour. No bites. Returned to the top of the beat for the last few hours and tried two other swims - again nothing. Lots of snags mid river - lost 5 feeders and two bombs. Tried pellet and feeder as well as meat as well as larger paste wrapped pellet. Although the top end of the beat looks heavily fished, it is well maintained and access is very good. It was just one of those days which sticks with you for all the wrong reasons! On the way back I was thinking what could have gone worse and decided the one thing left was an involuntary dunk in the Wye, which thankfully didn't happen.

Fished top end, fished bottom end, fished static baits and fished moving baits, - 1 chub!
