Alastair Eykyn had two salmon of 15lb and 16lbs. Charlie Newington-Bridges had a 12lb hen fish and lost a good sized salmon at the end of the day. Chris Ryan had an 8lb fish. Perfect conditions - water falling and clearing. River in superb condition. Just a shame we couldn't have fished it for longer. Many thanks WUF for providing us with excellent sport.

Water up but slowly dropping throughout the day. A lot of debris coming down which meant it was difficult to hold bottom even with heavy leads. All fish were caught within an hour late afternoon & then it went dead again. Water had dropped enough by fourish that I decided to try trotting with light tackle to see if I could pick up a small chub or two; First cast, float set at about 5 feet ,size 14 hook & a small cube of spam ,float disappeared & lifted into a fish . After 10-12 minutes thinking I was into a barbel & making little progress the fish jumped clean out of the water & broke the line at the hook. About 12-14lb salmon was my estimate, quite coloured just above Loxsters Pool. They are in there!

The sand martins were conspicuous by their absence , especially as there was an almost continuous hatch throughout the day. Somewhere over Africa by now I suppose.

Thanks again to all for our few hours of pleasure.

River quite high (1.7 and falling) fairly coloured - due to height of water there weren't too many spots where you could (safely) access the water but I found a spot on little run. I am more or less a novice and was treating the day as a spot of casting practice more than anything else. To my amazement after approx 10 minutes I hooked a fish on an Ally's Shrimp. After a superb fight I landed him - a cock fish of 32". For the rest of the day I only had one pluck further downstream, but needless to say was overjoyed with my first trip to the Wye - I will be back!
