Not worth fishing when the water is up on this stretch... couldn’t access the third pool and the other two were not able to hold a 6oz feeder so all in all difficult conditions.

Dropping river but still a nice colour. Quiet morning with just a chub to show for our efforts however after moving around we found some barbel after lunch. Finished on 4 barbel to 8.13 and a nice 4.8 chub. Fish caught mid river using small boilie, paste & PVA bag. Otter spotted near boathouse late afternoon. See you next year!

Tricky day for the three of us. Wye was up and banging through. Water 11.3 deg (flush of cold rain coming through). Had to fish inside margins and therefore only limited number of swims realistically fishable (approx 6). One of us tried some pike fishing but nothing doing. We all fished for the barbel (I also had an hour on the maggot feeder with a bite a chuck from dace and chublets). Barbel were not really interested. Had a couple but feel they were chance captures by landing a bait on their noses.

Great day on the river despite being hamstrung by one snapped rod on arrival meaning we had to share one rod for the whole day.

We fished from 9am and the chub were obliging during the day. The barbel started feeding at dusk, as expected. All five falling to double 8mm krill pellets from the second swim downstream of the woods within a period of 1 hour.

River pushing through, but was down 1 metre from the day before. 2 Barbel caught, one at 7lb 2oz, one at 3lb 14oz. Both from peg in the woods. Boilie and meat used as bait.

River up and coloured. We rotated swims down the inside line along the whole stretch, but the fish weren't really in the mood. Used flavoured luncheon meat and paste wrapped boilies as bait. Always a good day out on the Wye, even if the fishing is a bit slow. A Bullock in the bottom field got very frisky as we were heading back to the car, so we were nice and alert for the long drive home!

Water coming down from flood, difficult fishing and only 2 barbel and 2 chub to record. Spam the most effective bait on the day, fish in the slacks.
