A breezy and unseasonably cold day at Talybont reservoir, booked at the last minute after being washed off the Wye. Beautiful scenery and easy access to the water. The trout seemed to be clustered at the top end of the reservoir, and were responding to a range of small nymph patterns and fry imitations. Largest trout was a beautifully marked and coloured brown over 2lbs for MS. JH caught one brown over 1lb, and lost a few others. Bankside surgery required after MS got a fly stuck in his forehead - could have been a lot worse if glasses and a cap hadn’t been worn.

Tough fishing, the llyn was heavily coloured and about 1.5 foot higher than normal due to the heavy rain. The first few hours produced some nice fish to lures, but as the sun came out it went dead. Best fish 18 inches. The access track is a bit dicey, very muddy and slippery in parts.
