A very difficult day on the river, with bright sunshine and low water.
I saw plenty of fish, but couldn't tempt a take. Every time the fly hit the water they spooked, even if it landed 6ft from them.
When I did manage to present a fly the fish would investigate the fly, and then decided not to take it. I tried load of flies, dry and wet, but couldn't tempt a bite.
A very nice beat that I must try again in better conditions.

Two on small green nymphs - nothing rising, but occasional flash from grayling shows they are there! Hot days meant success only at first and last light. Will be back.

To hot and to far to drive to venue for evening rise :-(

Very hot day. Also many people were bathing in some of the pools. Nothing rising and nothing caught.
Many native crayfish evident.

River very low, tough conditions, rose a few fish landed one.

Nice water but challenging- reasonable access. Not many rising fish despite abundant mayfly hatch. Lots of fallen trees - would be an easy job to clear them and more of the bank.

First time using the passport scheme. Overall very impressed. Managed to catch a stunning brown trout of around 12’’ and 3 average-size grayling; all taken on nymph.
Good hatch in the evening, not many fish rising however. Lost a good fish on a dry fly at the larger pool in the middle of the stretch.
River looked to be in good condition, just a bit too low for ideal fishing. Will return once river levels start to rise again.
The beat also had quite a few groups of people hanging around by the river, with one group journeying down through the stretch I was fishing in a rubber dinghy. Probably not the best idea to turn up on a Saturday when there’s good weather.
Also saw quite a few kingfishers, one stopping just a few metres away from me in a tree.

WUF note : the Lugg has a public right of navigation though it is rare to find
