River low and clear with a bright sunny morning and overcast afternoon. Started fishing the faster water at the top of the beat and caught 2 nice chub around the 4 pound mark. Moved to the deeper slower swims at the bottom of the beat for the afternoon and evening. Caught more nice chub again around the 4 pound mark and the 2 barbel, largest barbel 8lb 14oz. All fish caught on meat.

A very warm day so it was always going to be reduced chances of hooking anything. Arrived early, just as mist was clearing - a few fish showing. Couldn't tempt anything though. Quietened further in the afternoon.
The beat is bookable for four rods but i think this would only work for a party of four friends. There were two other fishermen today which made it all a bit tight. A nice day on the water nonetheless.

No sign of any carp, either visibly or in terms of bites, when using pellets, corn or meat. Though the lack of success with the carp could say more about the fisher than the fish. Plenty of smaller fish about though, esp roach and ?hybrids. Easy access to both fishery and the water. Fished by the oak tree at the far end if only coz it offered shade on an unseasonally hot day. Water cloudy (pres. due to the cattle?) and visibility zero.
