Great stretch of the Wye, several relatively easily accessible swims.
Day extremely hot and humid, very slow fishing. Did manage two Chub 2.5 & 4lb in the morning, close to hanging willows both took pellet.
Lost one huge Barbel in streamer weed, after a very determined fight, ????

Beat:The Eyton Beat
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:2
Good access and clear parking on a hard standing. Wasn’t quite sure at first where the river was but finally found it.
Wading was good and a few deep pools to fish, lower beat was slow paced but upper was quick and fishy.
2 grayling fell to bugs. Lots of 2 inch grayling around the feet which was encouraging.

Sunny bright day, river running well but very clear. Did not see any rises so persevered with nymphs. Landed 3 good trout at about 12” each, all on gold bead hare ear and from the faster water at the head of deeper pools. Mid afternoon everything stopped, did not stay till late evening to see if a rise started. Interesting I saw no parr or smaller trout, though the ones I landed were in excellent condition.

Beautiful day. River lowish but sparklingly clear. Trout elusive. My fishing partner, Andy, had one trout at 8" on a heavy nymph. In addition 5/6 small trout around 5" all on Para patterns or similar.

Yet another tough day with the fish seemingly not interested in feeding. Not so much as a bite all day.
