13lb common caught from the oak tree, casting to the small little island in front on sweetcorn. Lost another 9-10lb common on pellet. Lake is fantastic, will be back very soon.

First time on this lovely beat and very friendly ghillie.
Worked the beat through twice throughout the day with no fish seen. From 6pm until dusk there was quite a bit of movement in Vanstone but could not be tempted on the fly. Will be back after some much needed rain.

Struggled today with the fish being very spooky. Perhaps it was the very low, clear water conditions but I left the river with the feeling someone had gone through before me. Most of the fish that were rising melted away once my fly went over them, even on the few occasions when my presentation was good.
The lower sections of the beat are a little overgrown with a couple of the more fishy spots almost impossible to get at. The upper section through Lyonshall wood is fantastic though and much easier to put a cast out.
Nevertheless it was great to be out in the wonderful Arrow valley. There were plenty of large brook duns hatching plus a few early mayflies. And I did manage to bring three wild browns to hand with a few lost so all in all, another lovely day's fishing.

Lovely river, clearly well managed. I'm first time passport user and inexperienced river angler so had a couple of bumps but nothing caught and very little seen despite pretty steady hatches including sporadic mayfly-type insects. Access not easy in upper part of beat but it's nice to have that jungle feel for at least part of what is a long stretch of water. Lack of rain recently so river clear and probably below average water depth yet all but a coupe of pools were wadeable.

A fantastic days sport. Every pool producing some sort of action, whether they made it into the net was a different matter! Huge midge hatches above the water and some olives coming down too.
Fished the duo for most of the day and took fish on both flies. Decent average size to today’s fish and I lost two brutes when twitching small fry streamers into the deep holes.
This beat really needs a selective few branches clearing to make more of the water fishable. A few occasions a single branch prevented a pool being fished! I snapped the ones that I could.

A very wild beat, but a fun one at that.

Only a brief visit. Waters levels quite low according to the local farmer. Mayfly hatching but very little activity ) and no interest in my hares tail fly but a lovely stretch of water to return to.
