With the weather looking decidedly iffy up near Stoke Prior , decided to just stick to a local beat and went to the Arrow at Kington , an old favourite of mine . . . . . Weather looked a bit dodgy Sennybridge way on the BBC weather app , was going to give the Cilieni a bash , but will do that some stage next week after another load of shifts . . . . .

Was thirteen degrees in my truck when I parked up , blustery , trying to drizzle quite heavy , and altogether not very nice to be fair , oh well , let's give things a bash I thought !!!!

First few pools , very quiet , in fact , had the feeling and that hunch that perhaps it had been fished earlier , as was quite some time before I had one , on the Parachute Pheasant Tail , nice take , eight inches , and beauty slipped back in . . . . . Seemed they were spooked by something perhaps !!!!

Next pool well further up , another fish , again perhaps eight or nine inches , lovely summer condition , and quickly released , fished the weir pool , no response !!!!!, odd one that !!!Anyway , moving on , a chap other week got in a pickle with that grilling on those huge tanks , I tend to loop the field side and ignore those totally . As your looking up into the weir take the exit out to the right into the open field , then immediately left into the corner of the big field there is a style , over that , loop around the water above the weir , cross too sections of fairly loose barbed wire , then drop back down into the river above the huge log jam , sorted !!!!!! Above there I had my last two fish , as only fished hundred yards up that section , still a really pleasant three hours , from half ten till half one . .

Was nice to have a few relaxing hours today , but something told me the usual spot that I know so well here , as fish holding lies , were distinctly empty this morning !!!!!! And the four beauties I had took some finding to be honest !!!!! But hey that's life in a tall black hat , take the rough with the smooth , perhaps the changeable weather had really put the resident Arrow brownies into sulk mode ha ha , still great fun , Cilieni or Edw next week , looking forward to that already , happy days !!

Lovely water no fish caught but a few seen not necessarily before they saw me. The water was low but a good flow with fish in the deep pools.

Last minute decision to give Courtfield a go with my brother after finishing work earlier, started at 15:00 fished till 21:00, 2 small barbel caught using pva bags both came within 10 minutes of each other after 19:00. Pva bags filled with hinders pellets & dumbell hookbaits. My brother blanked.

River low and clear, not much weed though which was surprising . Small chub caught in swim opposite deck chair area, but nothing else from that swim.
A swim just downstream from the beach, produced a lovely barbel just over 10 lb, late in afternoon from the deeper fast flowing middle section, on feeder with pellets and boiled hook bait.
Conditions difficult but access very good in dry weather.

Great day, I asked for an accessible stretch of water suitable for a geriatric angler and Allyson chose very well for me! So many thanks to her. A windy day with the breeze blowing downstream so not ideal. I tried spiders and French Nymphing; the latter taking all my fish the best of which was a beautiful brown trout of a little over two pounds; fin perfect and feisty. All fish on a gold bead hares ear. Thoroughly enjoyed my day.

Saw nothing, touched nothing, it wasn't the greatest day for the catching fish part of fishing as it was a lovely early autumn bright day with low clear water, but it still beat staying in the office where I would have been looking at spreadsheets all afternoon.
