Area:Usk
Beat:Fenni Fach
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
The river was increasingly chocolate coloured after starting around 5.30pm. There was a significant amount of sludge and algae in parts of the beat particularly towards the middle. Cattle also able to drink straight from the river.
Fished a range of smallish nymphs for a couple of hours to no avail although i spooked a number of fish so need to work on approach. Switched to a klinkhammer later on when the river seemd to come alive with rising fish. Managed to catch one around 10inch which fought well and was released seemingly fit and well.

Fisher and guest. River levels very low and water very clear on arrival around 9.00am.
Levels rose considerably by mid afternoon - accompanied by copious amounts of debris an leaf litter.
One (likely resident) salmon hooked but it shook the hook after a couple of minutes.
Other fish showing on the surface through the day - all deeply coloured.
