Plumbed for the Arrow at Kington this morning , arriving at nine had a peep over the bridge , just about fishable with tungsten nymphs running fairly fast but clear . . . .
The down side of the field side now is that the farmer has put up new fencing , three strand barbed wire !!! Would you believe it , and no crossing styles whatsoever , seems odd , but I'm.sure hes keen too take each fishermans twelve quid for a day, but cant even put up two or three crossing areas over the fencing !!! So anyone who fishes it take an old potatoe sack or similar , even in summer flows theres a need to get out and loop round some pools into the field. . .
Still cold water , but caught two very small brownies, six and seven inches respectively , taken on a tungsten red tag , was good fun , but with the height only a few areas fishable at the mo . I did check little Brook below the bridge , that runs into the Arrow , that's running clear , so good news !!
A fun couple of hours and two lovely little Arrow beauties on the nymph , perhaps the WUF can persuade the landowner to knock up two or three styles to make entry and exit of the river a tad easier !! A fun morning back here soon , happy days!!!!!

Final day and despite the river being cloudy and up at 1.8m had to give it a go before putting the trotting rods away . The jolly green giant did the job just a couple of feet out from the bank in the slacks . 4 of the grayling were over a 1lb , whist the Trout have certainly plumped up ready for the fly lads and lasses

2nd day of the end of season session for the three of us. The river was falling still but plenty of water in so had to find the slacker water at the bottom of the beat. A couple of barbel to 8.5lb for our youngest member who was made up with beating his pb by 3lb! A tough days fishing but always good to be on the Wye.

Good day out, weather very windy making it quite hard to cast the flies, trout were going for the blob once you found them.

River falling but still very high and pushing through hard. Found a couple of swims where there was a little less current. First produced nothing in two hours. First cast in second swim resulted in a good barbel bite. Fish hooked and played for about a minute then it found refuge in an obstruction on the bottom and that was that. No more bites in next hour and a half so packed up early. Disappointing end to what, for me, has been largely a less than successful season. Roll on June!

Level quite high, 2m on the Ross gauge and coloured. Struggled to find many places to fish due to the high banks. This is not a good stretch to fish in high water conditions due to the dangerous banks and lack of sheltered swims. Had one Chub in the morning and a single barbel in the afternoon. Fished for 8hrs for just 2 fish.
1 Barbel, 1 Chub
