Two trout caught nymphing - there was a March Brown hatch but nothing rising. One of the trout was an absolute cracker of a brown trout coming in at probably around 3lb, brilliant stuff. Will be back when the water has warmed just a little and hopefully they’ll be more active!

Good to get out, first trip of new season for me. Bright and sunny, bitterly cold wind though, somehow managed to pickup 2 small trout 6>8inches and one nice size grayling around 15 inches, that was it struggled for the best part without another touch. All returned safely.

River in good order, but very dead all round, no hatches, no trout and certainly no Salmon. Got to be fish somewhere, but after trying everything a fly rod can offer, nothing to report.

First trip of the season river flowing high and clear olives started trickling around half 12 never really got going not surprising considering the pace on the river in the shallows first fish taken on a dry olive in a pool tail other 2 taken on a spider in next pool down

6 x trout 9-12 inches, Deer Hair Emerger, Waterhen Bloa, Hare's Lug and Plover. Thin fish. River still very high and a freezing easterly wind made life difficult. I funked wading across. Never mind; it's all moving in the right direction provided the rain holds off and there was a very small trickle of March browns about one o'clock.
