First time on this stretch and after the recent floods, found the river in good order. Fish caught on a mix of home-made and shop -bought pellets.

My first ever visit to fish for Barbel/Chub, river had dropped from previous few days but still fast flowing, 3 Barbel 6lb, 8lb & 6.5lb. One Chub 3lb. Barbel took pellet, chub meat. Used large feeder, with 4' hook trace. Moved from swim opposite the castle after taking first Babel and Chub to a swim opposite the car parking area, fished last 2 hours there and caught x2 Barbel, all in near side crease. Struggled to hold bottom but just about manageable.

Kept mobile today and we were rewarded with some nice grayling trotting maggot , most in the 1/2 lb region but two fish over 2lbs and a couple of chub near the 3lb mark
