Nothin happening on the salmon front, except one that showed in The Tail, despite the Usk appearing to be at a good height. I'd brought the trout rod along too and had seven nice fish up to 2lbs, all but two on dry.
There was a good hatch of what looked like blue winged olives later in the afternoon. Emerging patterns were ignored but a small winged dry fly seemed to do the trick.

Another tough day, heavy rain didn’t help. One barbel and 1 chub. Barbel was 7.8lb which was a new PB for myself. Plenty of interest on pellets but very few hook ups, perhaps a change of tactics were required but rain was prohibitive. 1st two swims to the left of the tree line seemed the most active.

Beat:Abergavenny Town Water

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

A wet, muggy evening on Abergavenny Town last night. A damp day is your best bet for peace and quiet here - it keeps the banks free of the public. Despite a bit of colour It fished well to multiple methods - streamers, nymphs under a bung and dry fly, which took the better fish. Good average size on this beat. Ended up with 10 from 14 to 17 inches.

Note: There is currently a very large herd of cows at the bottom end of the beat, watch out for these they had calves and were quite aggressive.

Beat:Holme Lacy 3 and Lechmere's Ley

Fishing:Coarse

River still high and pushing through poured with rain in the afternoon which killed the fishing. Unable to get to the bottom swims as the bank has been washed away with the flood water, was dangerous before impossible now.

3 Barbel, 8 Chub
