Returning to normal levels but strong flow made holding bottom difficult. Only 2 Barbel on pellet between 3 anglers plus a few chub. A surprise 14lb 6oz pike stayed hooked after grabbing a small chub.

Glorious autumnal day. Lovely misty morning then warming sunshine after midday. Had a hectic couple of hours with nice Chub coming to maggot feeder. These fish were in superb condition. The level was 1.2m at Ross and falling nicely. I did not connect with a barbel all day., Tried pellets and paste but not a single whisker. Maybe a drop in temperture the last few days has put them off for a while. A wonderful day in peaceful surroundings. Went home a happy man

Lost a few flies in the abundant vegetation but an enjoyable half day exploring and problem solving (eg how to get down into and cast into the pools) on the Llynfi at Pontithel. I suspect the level was a touch too high and water too coloured for optimum grayling conditions. Still, learning a bit more with each trip out and would probably go back when conditions more suited. Parking is very close, as long as that layby is empty.

Thought I would try a couple of hours this afternoon but despite trying a variety of heavy nymphs and bugs did not tempt anything. Water still pushing through with a tinge of colour.
