A warm dry day with periods of sun and cloud. Forgot when booking that the bottom field would be unavailable because it is used for caravans for a few weeks in the summer. The chub were very obliging but like the previous 2 days spent on another beat the barbel proved to be very elusive.

WUF Nore : The bottom field is available, just not exclusive as there my be campers also fishing.

Had a great day on the Edw today.
Slow start and some flies coming off but took a while to find flies that worked. Fished the duo mostly and more than half to the CDC and deer hair and a few less on a peeping caddis 2mm beaded nymph. 5 or 6 were real fighters with fish to around 10”.
On the down side I also caught almost every tree but only lost one. Gained one from a branch I snagged where someone else broke off.

I hadn't fished this stretch of the Edw before so I thought I'd give it a go.
On arrival the river was running a little low and very clear, the weather was warm and cloudy day with very little wind at all.
I started off on the dry and had one very early on, this prompted me to stay on the dry for probably a bit too long.
When I eventually switched to the nymph I started catching, taking fish from the faster runs.
I have to say I found it very difficult trying to catch fish from the slower pools, even with a very cautious approach once the fly hit the water it sent the trout racing round the pool.
I saw far more than I caught, but still had a nice day on this very picturesque river.
