On arrival 1st day of the season I noticed each of the swims had been cleared of excess vegetation providing good access. The river was up after the recent rain with good colour too. Fished pellet and feeder tactics in various swims with only limited success and the odd bite. Conditions looked excellent for Barbel so surprised not to hook one. 4 chub between 2 and 4LB.

Lovely days fishing. Barbel caught up and down the beat. We cut some steps into a lot of the pegs to make them more accessible. Fish falling to meat and pellets.

Nothing caught and no bites... not really surprising as this really is a spot better fished in lower water conditions - rather than the dropping flood we arrived to... Never mind. I'll be interested to see how the Courtfield anglers did on the same day as there's some much better high water swims up there...

River/Beat very well sign posted, excellent access to the river and pegs. Arrived just after the crack of dawn to an expected very swollen river, fishing was tricky trying to locate the fish, perseverance held out for a cracking 9lb 12oz Barbel, great start to the season! Swim went quiet and after trying a selection of different baits and methods I was rewarded with two Chub in quick succession just under 5lb mark.
Reluctantly come away early, due to Fathers day .
Lovely beat, looking forward to my next visit in a few weeks time. Thanks WUF.

Hard days fishing with the river coming down from a flood, managed to find a few bits of quieter water where the chub were biting but only managed to connect with one.
