River level low. Lots of weed. Unable to find clear spots to fish and could not present a bait with any satisfaction. Not surprised at the reports of dead barbel being found, water temperature very warm. No fish of any species seen all day.

Tough going on a very low river. We had to work hard to get bites, but managed to find a few fish from different areas using a roving approach. All fish to freelined meat. Other fish were eels.

Gratefully a bit cooler than the previous day. Feeder fishing was the only method used. In addition to the barbel an eel was caught. Best barbel was probably about 8lb.

Fished here for the morning with no fish or bites, river very low with plenty of silk weed clogging the tackle making fishing virtually impossible.

Fished 6am to noon and regularly caught both chub and barbel, although difficult to get through the chub. Finished at noon with 20 barbel in the session.
Returned to fish a further 3 hours from 6:30pm and caught a further 9 barbel. Fish are generally smaller than other beats, the largest about 6lb, and 2 or 3 were probably only 1lb or just over. Average fish was between 4lb - 5lb.
I found the best way to get at the barbel was to fish a 10mm pellet on a very long hair rig. I then tried to ignore the strong pulls from chub, every time the bait hit the water. If I managed to get a bait on to the bottom, without a chub hooking itself, then I had a good chance with the barbel.
The larger fish tended to have lice behind their fins, which I was able to clean off, the small fish were in very good condition. Water was very low and clear, but far less weed than the previous day on another beat.
Some of the chub were a very good size with 3 or 4 easily topping 5lb.
