Was interesting to be able to see nearly every feature of the river bed with polaroids on when the water level is so low;Looks a different river. Was prospecting for chub ,but after 20 mins in nearly every run without a touch I put the coarse rod away & fished with a dry fly stripped through the faster water. I'm sure one of the trout was not a wild brownie ,but had all the hallmarks of a 'stockie'?

Plenty of water in the river, but all the same the lowest I've seen it. Fished both the bottom and top sections on the map and caught 17 wbt on a variety of dry. Most fish between 6 and 10 inches, with one or two smaller, and one or two larger.
I spooked a very, very large fish as I entered the pool just below the house which keeps their bank private. It was so big it spooked me too! Next time I'm gonna need a bigger boat.

Despite the heavy overnight deluge of rain, anticipation was high unfortunately it made no difference and with a bright sunny dawn made conditions extremely difficult in finding the fish. The canoe traffic was very heavy with most being very considerate and apologetic when tangled in my line, at one point I could not get a rod back in the water for @ 40mins due to the high consentration of various crafts.
Cracking beat, access to most if not all swims was very good with a variety of steep and good firm banks, direction to the beat were spot on m, well done WUF . Came away early due to the heavy canoe traffic, no fish this time but looking forward to returning after some welcome rain.

river very low and clear and extremally weedy which resulted on blanking on a stretch where normally catch good numbers of barbel river desperately needs rain. still can think of worse places to be all day.
