Great day caught my first Wye double happy days!????Used pellets and maggots. Fishing slow in the day but river had cleared considerably over the week. Fished the wood section. What I will say is when it’s wet watch your footing as the banks here are steep and you could literally end up in the river!

After fishing a dreadful 3 day pre planned trip during mid October when the river was virtually unfishable, I felt the need to get at least another day in. An old fishing buddy and I were dedicated Barbel anglers on the Hampshire Avon for many years and recently decided to switch allegiance to the Wye. This is our second trip to the WAU beats. What is most noticeable to us is that fish location is very different on the Wye, the fish shoal up and you have to find or it can be a long hard day. The Wye is a much bigger river than the Avon and we have not spent enough time yet in working it out. There is so much water its actually a bit daunting, but we may need to focus on a few beats to concentrate our efforts. We will get there but I guess what I am trying to say is that after 6 moves and plenty of bait dropping I only managed another blank. We will be back for sure and are already discussing when we may be able to get up next.

never ended up fishing here in the end because i didn't think it was worth risking falling into the river fishing from the sloped banks. This venue needs some work done on it making some swims which you van fish safely.

Another very tough day with low and cold conditions. Cold northerly wind throughout the day but we were fairly well sheltered from it at river level. Again not a touch during daylight hours and just one barbel of 6 lbs approx at dusk. Air temperature dropped very quickly as the sun set.

A difficult day with low, clear and cold conditions. Sunny at times with a cold northerly wind and a few brief showers. Had a good take late afternoon but struck into nothing! A good chub of 5.1 lbs last knockings but no barbel.

2 small trout and 1 grayling landed, another grayling lost. Very little showing but 1 grayling still came up to take a dry, the rest on nymphs. Cold northerly blowing but sunshine made it bearable. Lovely looking beat

its been a while since i last fished this beat. started fishing toward the bottom of the beat and started catching Grayling, largest 42cm plus the odd trout that don't seem to realise their season has ended.
mostly found the fish in the deeper pools fished two nymphs on a french style leader
best area was the first 60 yds above the road bridge, house was occupied so gave it a wide berth
really enjoyed myself.

A very chilly day where the cold curtailed events through rendering the feet almost inoperable - not to mention the fingers. But 2 OOS brownies came to the net in the bridge pool from clink and dink tactics. A truly beautiful beat.
