First visit to the Wye while on holiday and had high hopes, arrived early to have a good look around and get set up. Pegs along the meadow were disapointingly very overgrown and certainly didn't look as managed as I expected for the amount we paid to fish, ended up fishing near the car park as this gave reasonable safe access for my relatively inexperienced companion despite the drop to the water due to low river levels. Unfortunately however with constant disruptions from unbelievable amounts of canoe tourists we gave up fishing as a bad idea and left empty handed. Certainly won't visit here again during the weekend , we found it a busy noisey river and not the wild peacefull place I expected it to be. Would be Happy to accept a refund if offered, certainly not a venue I would currently recommend to friends.
The 3 "other " listed in the catch list were snagged canoes, not fish unfortunately!

Disappointed with the Edw today. 3 fallen trees over the first 400 yards and more further up the beat, noticed on my visit earlier this year. Didn't see a fish for the 60 minutes I fished so decided to head home. One of my favourite beats in desperate need of some clearing.

The car parks were not particularly obvious without an ordnance survey map. Some more reference points on the beat map would be extremely useful.

4 x trout 6-11 inches, 9 x grayling shots 6-9 inches, various dries. Nothing of size, although a few better grayling did raise their heads - but were strangely reluctant to latch on properly. One of those days. Rained all morning and early afternoon, rather more than the forecast had foretold. A rise in the level and muddy colour in the water from side streams stopped play around 3.30.

Annually visit the wye, first time on the creel, nice beat.
Winds made fishing difficult at times. Managed 2 barbel each. Biggest around 7lbs. All fish caught from lower beat limits. Here again tomorrow so will explore upper. Fish taken on standard barbel feeder tactics with pellet and paste hookbait.

4 Barbel
