Am grateful to Seth for directions for getting to appropriate water. Small trout taking g/h hares ear and g/h daddies. Fantastic water tipping over the rock beds still with some colour.

This is a beautiful place to fish. It's been a while since I've been there but 'I'll be back'! There was a bit of a wind for a while, but otherwise, conditions were perfect. I lost count of how many takes I had - probably 20 or more - bringing about 10 trout to the net, up to about 1 1/4. I was of course hoping to see some larger cousins, but I did not. Rain is due this week, so hopefully the remainder of the season will be on course.

wet and windy. This is very much a salmon fishery, and not for the trout angler who wants to work there way upstream on a dry fly. I was specifically targeting the large grayling that sit in the necks of the large pools. I hooked one large unidentified fish in one of those pools. Finished the day with four small trout and a small grayling.

Arrived at 11.00am water quite dirty but managed 3 trout in first two hours but water level was rising rapidly until water was too muddy to fish in afternoon.

Started on the concrete path by the generator but the river had come up overnight and the weed coming down at all levels was horrendous. I was wiped out within two minutes on every cast. So I walked upstream half a mile and found a decent looking swim. Still some weed but not nearly as bad. Had to wait three hours but patience was ultimately rewarded with 7 barbel in the afternoon and evening. No chub fortunately!

After reading some reports about how slippery conditions were underfoot, nothing could prepare us for this. It’s extremely slippery, studs and staff are a must, the water is very refreshing at the bottom of your waders..
This beat is simply stunning and you could be anywhere in the world.
Fishing was tough with only 1 fish to show for are efforts.
Will return but this time with a change of clothes.
