I’m a novice and was a bit bemused by the fact that there was loads of fly life but at times no fish rising at all. And then suddenly at 8:00 pm for half an hour there were fish everywhere. I caught one about 9’’ and missed two on and ‘indicator caddis’ though I do wonder if I could have caught them on anything given the way they were rising. Fished till after 9:00, great evening.

1 Trout

Arrived to find a coloured river. Over 20 salmon sighted (judging size) but none caught. As ever though a very enjoyable day on the river.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day on this beautiful stretch of the Wye. I had wanted to try to catch a salmon on the fly from the Wye whilst I was still fit enough, as I caught my first, a fresh run 29lber, from the Wye some 55 years ago. Unfortunately I chose a day when the water levels were very low as a result of a long period of dry weather.
I will be back to try again.

Quiet during the afternoon, livened up a bit in the evening. Weather fine, river rather dirty, fine crop of nettles. I (MJB Sutton Coldfield) had one 12" trout on a size 12 mayfly, Paul Crisford (PC Kenilworth) had a smaller one on a gold head buzzer. A very enjoyable day.
I'll be hurt if you amend my grammar, otherwise feel free.

Heavy algae. No sign of any fish

Lovely beat and weather just right.Nothing rising all day so stuck to French Leader with heavy nymphs.
I x personal best Grayling at approx 2.5lb and 1 of about a 1l 1 x l trout all taken on GRHE .
Easy access and parking 100 yards from swim

Started fishing at 11:00am with a few mayfly on the water. One small trout to a weighted nymph from a deep run. Changed to a spent mayfly and rose several fish only hooking one at 12 inches.

Fished for a few hours in the evening. 2 small trout came up for a black klinkhammer.

River quite low now, some of the pools almost static. Fished pm till leaving at 7.30, saw no rises at all although assorted fly life was around. Perservered with paras and tempted 3 at 9 -11" later on, perhaps it would have been better later into the evening.

Not hopeful dreaded algae has arrived!
