Cold mistly morning. Still about 3deg at 11am, then the sun broke through and it warmed up. Lovely beat with some great runs and pools. Wading and bank access difficult in places. Caught three nice brown trout to 14" on heavy nymphs fished through knee high runs. No fish rising, in the warm and sunny afternoon. No grayling caught, which was a surprise. I fished this beat several times about 10-15 years ago and there were specimen grayling present at that stage. The caravans that are now in the bottom field are a bit of an eyesore. There are a few problems with the map: with the caravans now present, the access instructions are incorrect. Also, it does not contain the stretch below the bridge.

Bright sunny day very little wind. Started fishing at midday and Fished until five.Hatch of pale wateries on arrival which seemed to continue throughout the day so there were a few rises. Saw only one large fish move the rest seemed to be small. Cast to rising fish with a variety of dry flies. Fish caught were between 10 and 13 inches. Great day out in beautiful surroundings.

Hard work today, heavy overnight frost and thick fog covering the river. Sun broke through around 11 30. All fish taken late afternoon on small size 18 PT nymphs. Wading challenging on this beat with access through the wooded areas almost impossible. left for home completely whacked, enjoyable last day of the trout season for us though.

Bright sunny day and with no fish showing fished upstream nymphs up to top of beat. Picked up 1/2 doz nice trout including fish of 14 & 15” and dropped a few. Odd small upwing hatching but not enough to bring up fish. Moved to middle of beat and picked up more trout and a 6oz dace to nymphs. Afternoon was very slow. Odd fish rising on lower section and managed one on daddy but no real hatch and fish not interested in dries or nymphs. Serious tree fall/ log jam on right hand side of island. All fish returned.

Fished by the downstream car park but struggled due to large numbers of canoes( at least 200) I wish I could report that they were considerate but many were ignorant and caused endless problems. Also had a number of swimmers go through!!! Had 1 barbel here before moving to the swims half way down the venue where we had 5 barbel in the last hour between 6-8lbs. Nice venue but a little work to open up swims would make it even better.

Fished from 8am till 4.
Lovely day on a great beat.
All grayling between 3 and 10 inches, 20 of them only about 3 inches all from same pool, trout approx 6 inches.
All fish but 1 to small ptn fished duo below a klinkhammer, which accounted for the trout.
Spoke to someone staying in the cottage and they told me that they had seen mink hounds on the river. There was certainly evidence of dogs everywhere.
1 Trout, 29 Grayling
