River looked good, a bit coloured and dropping. Found about five coloured fish jumping in Martins pool but didn't have any offers. Great day on a lovely beat though.

Don't know which river god I have pleased or how, but s/he was certainly with me today. Good flow in the river with a brown stain, the sun shone most of the day, even the breeze was mostly upstream. A lovely autumn day. Saw a few flies around so started with an adams klink size 16, nothing till about midday. Only saw the odd rise from then on, but the trout in virtually every glide and pool was willing to attack the adams, until I reached the end of the beat at about 5.00, not having changed my fly. Eventually landed 18, 8" to several at about 14", all fighting fit. Lost about half a dozen more, they were either lightly hooked or performed aerial aerobatics. And I missed others. All in all, a glorious end to the season with memories for the winter!!

River getting to a nice level at last after the recent rain. All grayling in the 7-8" range on Ptn and snipe and purple. Trees taking on some autumn colours making this secluded valley even nicer. Several dippers about and one mink.

Lovely day, beautiful river. Some fish rising (very few though); but nothing caught. We were on dry fly.
The good news is we can only improve from here.

Fished a number of swims both above and below the wood, having braved the long and arduous walk and very steep hill. River was in good condition but bites were at a premium. We managed 2 barbel each, best 8lb, on pellet based hook baits.

4 Barbel, 4 Chub
