Saturday was the first lovely day we have had this year, it was great to be out in such a nice area enjoying a bit of sun.
I've never fished any of the rivers round this area so was reliant on the description from the website to choose a location.
Unfortunately the river was in flood and virtually unfishable, the surrounding fields had standing water which was flowing in to the river and adding to the lovely brown colour. The current was so strong that wading was impossible except on the inside of 2 bends. Any fish in the river remain unbothered by our limited efforts!
Sadly the beat is in need of a lot of work to remove fallen and overgrown trees and quite big build ups of winter flood debris which in a couple of places looked like beaver dams.
We persisted for about 5 hours but never saw any sign of a fish.
The map indicates that a sign is at the top of the beat, I think we walked a long way past that point as there was nothing obvious but on the way back there is a sign on the BACK of a fence between the 2 weirs which is only about a third of the way up the beat.
A pleasant day for a yomp along a river bank, I would be interested to see the river in good condition one day when i'm back in the area.

A beautiful day on a well kept beat. Lots of water to be fished. Weather largely fair, with intermittent cloud. Hatch of LDO around 12 bringing a few fish on to the rise.
Four grayling, one taken on a klinkhammer, three on PTNs. All 400-500 grams and safely released.

Not sure whether Friday the 13th or ineptitude had anything to do with it, but blanked! Still v enjoyable but some care needs to be taken at the moment when wading. There are a few places where depth goes from boot to chest depth within a pace.

First time back to this rocky river for a long time, running fast and clear on a cool grey day. Tricky wading, the steep banks and deep runs meant I had to cross the river a few times which was hairy in this current. Trickle of olives most of the day but nothing rising. Tempted 2 well marked and conditioned 11 inchers on a tung head GRHE, but saw nothing else. Still hugging the bottom, I guess.
Met the farmer in the new parking area, he told me the best place - most of his cattle and sheep are still in the sheds, so the yards are a sea of mud - we all hope for the warmer weather!

Much colder than last visit, a dull and quite windy afternoon. Nevertheless, we had some quality wild trout ranging from 13 to 17 inches in a few hours fishing.
